Harlan & Weaver
Publishers
Harlan & Weaver - Process
Harlan & Weaver is a fine art publishing company in New York, NY.
The site is built in Squarespace, with lots of custom CSS added to meet their unique requirments for their webstore.
They wanted to give their website an
updated minimalist look, and add e-commerce functionality to the site. They wanted a e-shop front that could
serve as a gallery of their works, while also allowing customers to purchase directly from the online
gallery.
We also added "artist profiles" for their newest artists- including process photos and the artist's writings
about their work. This way guests to the site could get a more well-rounded view of the artists' work.
Santa Rosa
Multicultural Museum
Santa Rosa Multicultural Museum - Process
The goal of this project was to create an educational game about Native American art & culture that could be played on-site at the museum while viewing the exhibits. Our primary target audience was 4th-5th graders.
We brainstormed many different ideas for integrating the physical and online space, but we ultimately decided on a scavenger hunt style game, that encouraged kids to look for clues in the artifacts on display.
This project presented more than a few challenges, including creating an art style that was colorful & engaging for kids while remaining faithful to the Native American art and cultural objects on display.
Another challenge was migrating the museum's current educational materials (paper print outs) to a digital format. The client had so much wonderful content that she wanted to include, that our scavenger hunt started to look incredibily cluttered - featuring dreaded walls of texts (no good for adults, much less 4th graders). So we opted instead to make a much longer game, featuring more artifacts to find, and several mini-games users could play. This way we were able to spread out our educational content in a more digestible fashion, including integrating it into the mini-games and "fun facts" that pop-up when you answer a question correctly.
We approached the project using Agile Scrum methods, focusing on user stories. Click here to see a visual plan of our user stories.
Kat's Hair Design
Kat's Hair Design - Process
My client has been running a thriving hair styling business for 45 years without any online presence at all. But since she recently moved her business from San Fransico to the scenic northern town of Healdsburg, she wanted to make sure new clients could find her online.
She wanted a chic, minimalist look - giving me a glossy black business card with a gold stamped logo as a design reference- which is now featured (with a slight twist) as the site's banner image.
The site is fully responsive, and I created it using only pure HTML & CSS.
Windsor Worm Farm
Windsor Worm Farm - Process
The goal with this project was to create an online presence for the client to expand their reach &
educate potential customers on the many benefits of worm-castings as organic fertilizer.
We decided to go with a colorful & illustrative style to set them apart from similar businesses in the area that
use a more predictable brown & dark green color scheme. The client wanted to emphasize the fun & vibrant
experience of gardening.
Simplicity & ease of use was important, so from the two colorful links on the homepage banner, a customer can
access all the most important info that the client wanted to highlight.
Kitty Cat-alog
Kitty Cat-alog - Process
I created the Kitty Cat-alog as project for my Web & Mobile Front End Development cerificate. The goal was to learn Bootstrap 5 CSS framework inside and out.
I was tasked with creating a fully resoponsive website that, not only used as many of Bootstrap's features as possible, but also had its own unique identity. I did this by customizing the Bootstrap components. I wanted to avoid having the Bootstrap aesthetic that we all know so well (featuring lots of primary blue buttons and white backgrounds).
